Adwithya Patnaik (Orissa) clinched a double by winning both the singles and doubles titles in the boys` category of the AITA Under-16 Championship Series Tennis Tournament, which concluded here at the Circuit House courts today.
A trainee of Bhubaneswar-based Gurukul Tennis Academy, Adwithya blanked Prateek Alkesh (Delhi) 6-0, 6-0 in the singles final to secure 25 National ranking points. Earlier on Wednesday, top seed Adwithya and Prateek grabbed the doubles crown, defeating Orissa-Bihar pair of Avilash Mishra and Nishant Kumar in the final 6-1, 6-4.
Top seed Sanya Sinha (Delhi) won the girls` singles crown, defeating second seed Bindiya Khanwani (Andhra Pradesh) in the summit clash 6-3, 6-3. The runners-up gained 20 ranking points each. Among Orissa girls, Komal Vishakha and Koyal Mishra reached quarterfinals before going down to top seed Sanya Sinha and Nidhi Surapaneni respectively.
Keonjhar ADM Bhagbat Majhi gave away the trophies at the closing ceremony. Host Keonjhar District Tennis Association secretary Harihar Sahu, vice-president Amiya Behera and other members were present on the occasion.
